The pumps have to be cleaned after use by simply pumping water through them.</div> <bR> <div> <IMG BORDER="0" SRC="Symb075c00b7011800000000.gif" HEIGHT="19" WIDTH="24" ALIGN="bottom" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0">The transit-boxes are filled properly when both, the filling and the venting, studs are filled to the rim and shrinkage of the sealant compound ceased (see <A HREF="id325.htm" TARGET="_top" TITLE="Preparation of Damming Walls"><U>Figure C</U></A>). For vertical transits, the box has to be filled to the top rim.</div> <bR> <div> <IMG BORDER="0" SRC="Symb075c00b7011800000000.gif" HEIGHT="19" WIDTH="24" ALIGN="bottom" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0">If the correct mixing ratio for E950 powder and water is used, the resulting sealant liquid is always easy to pour and easy to pump (see also the “drip-test” above).</div> <bR> <div> <IMG BORDER="0" SRC="Symb075c00b7011800000000.gif" HEIGHT="19" WIDTH="24" ALIGN="bottom" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0">Large premixed quantities of sealant should be stirred periodically in order to maintain their uniformity and smoothness.</div> <bR> <div> <IMG BORDER="0" SRC="Symb075c00b7011800000000.gif" HEIGHT="19" WIDTH="24" ALIGN="bottom" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0">The sealant liquid has a pot life of about 60 minutes after which it gels to a jelly-like consistency. </div> <bR> <div> <IMG BORDER="0" SRC="Symb075c00b7011800000000.gif" HEIGHT="19" WIDTH="24" ALIGN="bottom" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0">Hardening occurs after about 3 to 4 hours at room temperature. </div> <bR> <div> <IMG BORDER="0" SRC="Symb075c00b7011800000000.gif" HEIGHT="19" WIDTH="24" ALIGN="bottom" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0">Complete chemical curing occurs after 72 hours and requires frost-free conditions.</div> <bR> <div> <IMG BORDER="0" SRC="Symb075c00b7011800000000.gif" HEIGHT="19" WIDTH="24" ALIGN="bottom" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0">Precautions should be taken to avoid any movement of freshly sealed cables for at least the first 24 hours. </div> <bR> <div> <IMG BORDER="0" SRC="Symb075c00b7011800000000.gif" HEIGHT="19" WIDTH="24" ALIGN="bottom" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0">Only after this time may the final fasteners for the cables can be secured to the cable trays or holders.</div> <bR> <div> Note: The water-mixed sealant E950 should <B>not</B> be applied at temperatures below 3°C (~37°F). The E950 powder has a shelf life of 3 years when stored in its original packing in a dry and frost-free environment. The impregnation liquid E824 should be stored frost free and has a shelf life of 2 years.
